Utimaco Posts Strong Fourth Quarter Results

Worldwide Sales of Newest SafeGuard Enterprise version with Strong Momentum in the Americas Region Drive Quarterly Revenue Higher

Oberursel, Germany, August 5, 2008 / Utimaco – The Data Security Company, announced today accelerated worldwide revenue growth, with particularly strong momentum in the Americas region in the fourth quarter of FY 2007/2008. According to preliminary calculations, total revenues grew by 28.1% to EUR 15.3 million (PY: EUR 12.0 million) in the fourth quarter 2007/2008 driven by an increase in license sales of 41.6% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The Americas region grew by 50.8% to EUR 3.4 million (PY: EUR 2.2 million) in the fourth quarter 2007/2008, converted to USD this corresponds to a growth of 74.8% to USD 5.3 million (PY: USD 3.0 million). Revenues in Europe outside Germany grew by 78.8% to EUR 4.8 million (PY: EUR 2.7 million). For the fiscal year 2007/2008 as a whole, Utimaco improved its revenues by 20.0% to EUR 59.2 million (PY: EUR 49.4 million).

In the fourth quarter 2007/2008, the Data Protection division, which develops professional solutions for protecting the confidentiality and integrity of data when it is stored, moved and used increased its revenues from software license sales by 43.7% to EUR 8.6 million (PY: EUR 6.0 million) according to preliminary calculations. In total, this division improved revenues by 31.3% to EUR 13.1 million (PY: EUR 10.0 million) in the fourth quarter and for the fiscal year 2007/2008 as a whole by 15.4% to EUR 49.8 million (PY: EUR 43.2 million). The extraordinary market reception to SafeGuard® Enterprise 5.3, the first product on the market that couples advanced encryption and data leakage prevention (DLP) in one suite, has played a key role in helping this division to achieve excellent fourth quarter results. With SafeGuard Enterprise now installed on more than 400,000 machines worldwide, Utimaco has tripled its deployment of customer seats in the second half of its 2007/2008 fiscal year. SafeGuard Enterprise was also just honored with a Best Product Award in the mobile security category from Networks Product Guide, a Silicon Valley Communications publication which lauded Safeguard Enterprise 5.3 for its ability to secure data on all kinds of devices, from laptops and removable media to PDAs and smartphones.

The Lawful Interception & Monitoring Solutions (LIMS) division, which develops solutions for network operators and telecommunications providers for the legally-compliant monitoring of telecommunications services, increased its revenues by 51.7%, in the fiscal year 2007/2008, to EUR 9.4 million (PY: EUR 6.2 million).

According to preliminary calculations the operating result (EBITDA) for fiscal year 2007/2008 is expected to be on the previous year´s level of EUR 10.5 million, which was positively affected by capitalized development costs worth EUR 2.9 million. After adjustments to take account of these capitalization effects from the previous year, the operating result (EBITDA) improved by 27.6%.

We are also quite pleased with the disproportional improvement of our operating profit (EBITDA) by 27.6% compared to previous year´s adjusted EBITDA.”

The final results for fiscal year 2007/2008 will be discussed in an analysts conference on 30th September 2008.
